MR. AJAY PRATAPRAYA SHANGHAVI

Mr. Ajay Pratapraya Shanghavi is a seasoned business leader with over 38 years of experience in corporate management, business strategy, manufacturing, investments, mergers and acquisitions, business development and organisational growth. He has served on the boards of over 30 companies across engineering, manufacturing, packaging, IT, ITES, EdTech, financial services, and media and entertainment.

He is currently Managing Director – India Operations at Global Emerging Markets (GEM Group), a diversified global conglomerate present in 20 countries, where he oversees investments and operations in affordable housing, NBFC, fashion, EdTech, real estate and agribusiness, along with procurement and corporate matters.

Previously, he spent nearly three decades with Comcraft Group, a global conglomerate operating in 40 countries, rising to Group Managing Director. There he led new investment initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and the management of manufacturing and service businesses across India.

His expertise spans greenfield projects, business acquisitions, corporate restructuring, equity and debt fundraising, amalgamations, taxation, litigation, compliance, and new product and market development. He has also led several business incubation initiatives from concept to commissioning.

Mr. Shanghavi holds qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Foundry Technology, and Marketing & Management, with studies at VJTI Mumbai and Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies.
