Manager – Bidding & Tendering

Job Purpose
The Manager – Bidding & Tendering will drive revenue growth by identifying, managing, and securing government tenders and bids for solar module sales. The role demands a strategic and process-oriented professional capable of navigating complex public procurement frameworks while ensuring competitive pricing, timely submissions, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Strategic
- Identify and monitor government tenders across central and state agencies (SECI, NTPC, State DISCOMs, etc.).
- Evaluate tender eligibility, viability, and strategic fit aligned with Vikram Solar’s product portfolio and revenue goals.
- Collaborate with product, pricing, and legal teams to formulate winning bid strategies.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector to stay ahead of upcoming opportunities.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, respond to clarifications, and gather market intelligence to shape future bids.
Finance
- Own and manage pricing strategy for tenders to ensure competitiveness while maintaining target margins.
- Coordinate with the finance and commercial teams to assess bid profitability and financial risks.
- Prepare detailed cost sheets and ensure alignment with bid submission financial models.
- Track payment terms, bank guarantees, and ensure compliance with financial pre-qualifications in tender documents.
Process
- Lead end-to-end bid preparation, documentation, and timely submission of tenders.
- Maintain a robust bid management tracker to monitor opportunities, submission deadlines, outcomes, and post-bid clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with all tender requirements including technical specifications, certifications, and documentation standards.
- Coordinate with legal for contract review and risk mitigation on awarded bids.
- Standardize and improve internal bidding processes and documentation quality for higher win rates.
People
- Liaise with internal teams – Engineering, Finance, Legal, SCM, and Product – to align on bid deliverables and deadlines.
- Mentor junior team members or executives in the bidding process and government liaison activities.
- Facilitate clear communication across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of awarded contracts.
Knowledge & Skills
- Education: Graduate( Engineering/Science, Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics); MBA in Marketing/Sales preferred.
- Experience: Min 10 years of experience in solar or renewable energy sector with a focus on government bidding and tendering.
- Strong understanding of government tendering process, DTA/e-Tender portals (e.g., CPPP, GeM, SECI).
- Familiarity with solar PV module specifications, BIS standards, ALMM, and other technical qualification norms.
- Knowledge of commercial and financial bid structuring.
- Proficient in Excel, MS Office, and online bidding portals.
- Strong analytical and attention-to-detail orientation.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Deadline-driven, with high ownership and initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tender cycles simultaneously.
