PROJECT BRIEF DETAILS

  • 5 MW grid-connected solar photovoltaic power plant is situated in Gurugram, Haryana at the manufacturing facility of Maruti Suzuki Limited
  • The solar PV plant is fixed at an optimum tilt angle and made south facing to maximize power generation
  • The PV modules used for the project are of c-Si type
  • The DC electrical output from the PV modules is fed via cables to string monitor boxes leading to the inverters
  • The inverters convert the DC power to AC power to step it upto 11kV medium grid voltage

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS

  • One of the major challenge was to design the Module mounting structure over a car parking area wherein the modules to be mounted at height of around 5 meter above ground.
  • MMS was designed for wind speeds of about170kmph and as per IS875 Part 3, IS800 and IS801.
  • Another major challenge was to get the supplier who can manufacture the structure and supply in shortest possible time. To keep up with the deadline, we tied up with an experienced external design agency to get the optimized design and well-known as well as experienced structure supplier to get the material at site.

UNIQUENESS OF THE PROJECT

  • Module mounting structure is one of the unique design highlight of this project wherein we have used around 900 MT of highest quality material
  • The 5 MW Carport solar plant is spread across 39500 sq meter of area
  • 13,530 numbers of highly efficient 370 Wp SOMERA Grand Monocrystalline modules are used
  • The plant is expected to generate 7.33 million units of green energy annually
  • The structure is designed to install modules at an average height of 5 meter above the ground
  • The whole area can park more than 2000 cars inside the structure.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS

From the outset, the installation site presented unique challenges, including a large single shed roof, a requirement for large DC wiring underneath the modules, and two paths of evacuation converging into one outgoing source, which is atypical.

Like all our rooftop projects, client’s needs and situation varied. Vikram Solar carried out a technical feasibility assessment and a highly-customized rooftop solar installation strategy to install & commission Eastern India’s Largest Single shed rooftop project.

PLANNING & EXECUTION

Total 6240 nos. solar PV modules (approx.) were installed in the 2.15 MW rooftop solar plant. On an avg. 450 nos. of modules were installed per day to meet the challenge to complete the commissioning within deadline. 50 kW (1 nos.), 100 kW (17nos.) inverters used in the project.

FINANCIAL BENEFITS

The carport project is expected to help Maruti Suzuki Limited save around INR 5 Cr per year from energy generation.
