CONCEPT OF
BLOCKING DIODE

  • A blocking diode is a semiconductor device installed in series with the output of a solar module.
  • Primary function is to prevent reverse current flow from downstream components such as the String Combiner Box (SCB), Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and inverter back into the solar module.
  • This protection is especially critical under low-light conditions, during string voltage mismatch and throughout nighttime operation, when the risk of reverse current flow is elevated.
